Two Brothers Fighting / Dos Hermanos Peleándose

The scene depicts two men, brothers, fighting in the center of the painting with a shadowed robed male figure witnessing the fight and the impression of a cabin behind them. Carrillo had the uncanny ability to capture light both ambient and symbolic. In Two Brothers Fighting Carrillo places the light source within the painting as a lantern held by one of the brothers. In this way the light becomes dramatic to stress the tension between the brothers- exploding outwards in streaks like action lines in a comic as they exchange blows.
